Bashaud Breeland last played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, but his best year was with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won the Super Bowl in 2019, playing alongside Patrick Mahomes. 5 years later, Breeland wants to auction away his Super Bowl ring.

According to WJTV.com, Breeland enlisted his Super Bowl LIV ring for the Heritage Auctions Summer Platinum Sports Auction. More than $42 million has already been submitted as bids.

The Chiefs have won three Super Bowls in the last six years and each time they held a ring ceremony, which they broadcast live on TV. Fans always find it fascinating to learn more about the ring and the materials used for its construction.

While initially, the auctioneer predicted Bashaud Breeland’s 2019 Super Bowl ring would go between $10,000 and $20,000, the bid actually reached up to $50,000, including the fees.

Breeland isn’t the only former Chief who gave his ring for auction though. Former defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth played six games for Andy Reid’s team in 2022 when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Stallworth’s ring, which contains 609 diamonds worth $20,000, reached close to $54,000.

Breeland’s ring was eventually sold for a whopping $81,000 according to Cllct Media founder Darren Rovell.

The 32-year-old Breeland has a checkered history outside of football. He has had run-ins with the police several times in the last few years.

April 2020 was the first occasion the police caught Breeland after they found an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle in his car, and after throwing a blunt, he pushed a cop and tried to escape. However, they captured Breeland and put multiple charges on him, including resisting arrest, driving under the influence, and possession of marijuana. He pleaded guilty in October, which led to receiving a 30-day suspended jail sentence and a $100 fine for each charge.

His second offense came three years later in Charlotte, North Carolina. The police nabbed him because he was driving a stolen Mercedes-Benz G550 SUV from Florida. After searching the car, they discovered concealed firearms, including multiple assault rifles, several handguns, and drugs.

The Charlotte Police caught him again in April 2024 for possession of five pounds of marijuana, 62 grams of suspected mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia, per WBTV.com. However, it’s unclear whether he is still in jail or not. Perhaps that’s the reason he wants to recuperate some money by selling his Super Bowl ring to the highest bidder.

As for Stallworth, he bounced around several teams after the Chiefs released him in 2022. He was part of the Houston Texans twice, the Carolina Panthers, the Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers, and he is currently on the Washington Commanders practice squad.
