Football fans are blaming the Buffalo Bills for handing Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs a special weapon on a silver platter, following a leaked video of No. 15 doing damage with his new wide receiver.
In a move that surprised many, the Bills traded the No. 28 and No. 133 selections to the Chiefs at the 2024 NFL Draft in exchange for the No. 32 and No. 95 picks. With the 28th selection, Kansas City drafted a new playmaker for Patrick Mahomes in Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
On Monday, the Chiefs posted a video of Mahomes and Worthy hooking up for a beautiful touchdown during Sunday’s practice:
Since the Bills passed on Worthy and agreed to the trade with Kansas City that let them select the Longhorns speedster, fans started blaming Buffalo for making this new connection possible:
Worthy was regarded as one of the top boom-or-bust prospects of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he raised his stock when he ran a record-breaking 40-yard dash time of 4.21 seconds. And if there’s a quarterback who can fully unlock his potential and avoid the “bust” label, it’s Patrick Mahomes.
In his final season at Texas, Worthy caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns. Texas qualified for the four-team postseason, losing 37-31 to the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes Should Be Even Better In 2024
The Kansas City offense struggled considerably throughout the 2023 season, and it was mostly because they lacked consistent playmakers outside of tight end Travis Kelce and rookie wideout Rashee Rice.
And yet, they still managed to win the Super Bowl. And to think the offense got even better with the selection of Worthy and the signing of former 1,000-yard wideout Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown.
With Brown and Worthy joining the fold, Mahomes now has five players capable of posting over 1,000 yards of offense, along with Kelce, Rice and running back Isiah Pacheco.
